I had a mixed experience at the Yaeyama Nikko Hotel. On one hand, it offers great value for a family-friendly resort, with solid facilities and some nice views from the top floor bar. However, the rooms felt quite dated and could use some updates. The internet was frustrating, making it hard to stay connected during my trip, and overall, I felt there are better options on the island.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms are quite dated and plain, lacking any real charm. You could hear conversations in the corridor, which was a bit bothersome. However, the size was decent by Japanese standards, and we did have a nice view of the ocean.
Service
7.0
Service was generally friendly and helpful. They had a crib ready for my daughter, which was great, but the dining options seemed to be cleared away quite early.
Location
7.0
The hotel is in a good spot for accessing various spots around the island if you have a rental car. It's a bit far from the center, but if you're looking for some traditional restaurants nearby, it's a solid choice.
Dining
6.0
The dining experience was decent, with a range of options available, but nothing that stood out as exceptional.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities were fairly standard for a family resort. The public bath was nice, but the lack of any real attractive pool area was a letdown.

6.4/10

The hotel is located on a hill with a nice view, but it’s a bit isolated from the main town, requiring a car or taxi to get around. The rooms are spacious and give you a nice ocean view, although the service was lacking, especially with the language barrier. The pool is small, but the overall value is decent for families looking for a typical resort experience.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms are quite spacious for Japanese hotels and have a lovely view of the ocean. They were clean and provided a comfortable stay.
Service
6.0
While the service staff were friendly and made an effort, they struggled with English, which made communication difficult at times.
Location
5.0
Situated on a hill, the hotel offers beautiful views, but it's quite a distance from downtown Ishigaki, making it less convenient without a car.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast options leaned heavily towards Japanese cuisine, which is great if that's what you prefer, but it might not appeal to everyone.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities included a small pool that was often crowded on weekends, but they did have a decent public bath to enjoy.

7.4/10

The hotel offers a nice stay in a quiet neighborhood away from the hustle of downtown Ishigaki. I found the rooms to be spacious and clean, although the furnishings show signs of age. The breakfast buffet was delightful with eggs made to order, but the Wi-Fi in the rooms was frustratingly slow. Overall, this hotel is a solid choice for those looking for value, especially with the on-site dining options.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were quite spacious and clean, even though the furniture was a bit old.
Service
8.0
The service was generally helpful, and I appreciated the assistance with booking activities on the island.
Location
6.0
The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, but it is a bit far from downtown, making it less convenient unless you have a car.
Dining
9.0
The breakfast buffet was huge and very tasty, which I really enjoyed.
Facilities
7.0
There is a Japanese style public bath and various dining options available within the hotel.

7.0/10

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The staff was really eager to assist and made me feel welcomed even though there were some language barriers. The location was convenient, with several local restaurants and shops nearby. However, the dining experience left much to be desired, especially the breakfast variety. The rooms were clean but felt a bit outdated, and the Wi-Fi connection was a hassle, which was frustrating at times.

Rooms
7.0
The room was spacious and clean, but the furniture was a bit old and dated.
Service
9.0
The staff were very helpful and attentive, always trying their best to assist.
Location
8.0
The hotel is well-located, close to traditional restaurants and convenience stores, plus it’s not far from the town center.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were quite limited, with mostly Japanese choices for breakfast which might not appeal to all guests.
Facilities
6.0
The amenities were decent, but the pool area felt cramped, especially during weekends.

6.8/10

I had a fairly good experience at this hotel in Ishigaki City. It offers a decent value, especially considering the comfortable rooms and friendly staff. However, the pool was small and often packed with kids on weekends. The breakfast leaned heavily towards Japanese cuisine, which was fine, but I would have appreciated more English translations on the menu.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were decent-sized and clean, definitely larger than what you'd typically find in Japanese hotels. Although they felt a bit dated, I found the beds quite comfy.
Service
8.0
The service was friendly and attentive. While I didn't have any specific requests, I noticed the staff went out of their way to help other guests.
Location
7.0
The hotel is about a 15-minute walk downhill to the town center, which is manageable, but it felt a bit of a trek uphill on the way back. A taxi ride is inexpensive, so not a huge inconvenience if you don't feel like walking.
Dining
6.0
The dining options were varied, but mostly focused on Japanese cuisine, with very few Western choices. It was fine for the majority of guests, but translating the menu into English would have been beneficial.
Facilities
6.0
While the facilities included a public bath and a pool, I found the pool area a bit small and crowded during peak times, which wasn't ideal. The internet access was also a bit slow.
